This section provides information about census coverage and reporting for establishments in the Management of Companies and Enterprises sector.
This sector includes establishments that manage companies and enterprises that hold the securities or other interests in other organizations, for the purpose of controlling or influencing their management decisions. These establishments also may administer, oversee or more actively manage other establishments of the same company or enterprise. NAICS classifies company and enterprise management establishments in the Management of Companies and Enterprises sector using numbers that start with 55.
The Economic Census covers all company and enterprise management establishments that operated during all or part of calendar year 2012. Establishments covered in this sector include bank and other holding company establishments, and centralized corporate, district and regional management offices. Government management organizations, and establishments that provide day-to-day support for company or enterprise operations, are classified in other NAICS sectors.
Establishments that manage companies and enterprises, and have paid employees, will receive a Census mail package with several types of materials. Each establishment will receive an Information Sheet and a Census form. Companies with multiple operating establishments will receive the appropriate Information Sheet for every group of similar forms, and not necessarily one Information Sheet for every form.
Information Sheets provide general information about the Census and instructions for reporting selected items on the Census form. Management of companies and enterprises services establishments will receive Information Sheet SV-MN_I_12.
Census Forms describe each data item for company and enterprise management establishments, and provide instructions and formats for reporting them. Company and enterprise management establishments will receive one form, either form numbered MN-55101 or MN-55102.
