 Recommended approach to electronic reporting

Surveyor provides several methods of reporting data. Following is guidance on reporting electronically:

  1. The FORM VIEW is best if:
    • Your business has one or only a few locations, OR-
    • Your business has multiple locations and form types are supplied with one or only a few locations.

Surveyor's FORM VIEW provides an easy interface for entering the data.
    • Simply type in your figures; Surveyor automatically saves your work.
    • Surveyor's built-in calculators and Review Form button help ensure an accurate response.

  2. The WORKBOOK VIEW is best if:
    • Your business has multiple locations each conducting the same or similar kinds of business, for which the same form type was supplied for many locations.

Surveyor's WORKBOOK VIEW can simplify some of your reporting tasks.
    • Surveyor's Workbook view is similar to a spreadsheet.
    • The Workbook view allows you to copy and paste identical responses from one location to others. For example, responses to the questions Operational Status, Months in Operation, and Kind of Business may be the same for hundreds of locations.
    • Information entered in the Workbook view is posted to the Form view automatically. For some items, you can toggle the display between the Workbook and Form views.
    • Surveyor's built-in calculators, Review Form button, and Review All Forms button help ensure an accurate response.

  3. EXPORTING TO A SPREADSHEET is best if:
    • Your business has a very large number of locations and conducts many different kinds of business for which many different form types were supplied and/or you wish to link Surveyor with your own data files.

Surveyor's exported spreadsheets allow you to work in your spreadsheet environment.
    • Spreadsheets exported from Surveyor allow you to use tools like VLOOKUP in combination with your records and can easily be imported back into Surveyor.
    • After you update the exported file, open Surveyor, and import your spreadsheet.
    • Note: When working in the exported spreadsheet DO NOT DELETE the columns labeled FORM_MAILED and RECORD_CFN.
