About the Nonemployer EIN Internet Survey
Purpose:
The Nonemployer EIN Internet Survey is being conducted to help the U.S. Census Bureau learn more about organizations identified as nonemployer corporations or partnerships. Income from nonemployer businesses is tabulated to produce annual estimates of Nonemployer Statistics, an increasingly important component of the U.S. economy, and tabulated in estimates of Gross Domestic Product.
Nonemployer Statistics is an annual series of information about businesses without paid employees that are subject to federal income tax. Most nonemployers are self-employed individuals operating very small, unincorporated businesses, which may or may not be the owner's principal source of income. These firms are excluded from most other business statistics (the primary exception being the Survey of Business Owners). Nonemployers account for a majority of all business establishments but average less than 4 percent of all sales or receipts.
Coverage:
The Nonemployer EIN Internet Survey collects data from corporations and partnerships with positive receipts and without payroll employees in 2007.
Content:
Questions are limited to descriptive information about the type of activity covered under a given EIN as well as potential relationships to other EINs used by the organization.
Methods:
The Nonemployer EIN Internet Survey will be sent to a sample of corporations and partnerships selected from a list of all nonemployer firms operating in 2007 with receipts greater than $0. The survey will collect data via an on-line application.
Electronic Reporting:
Thank you for your cooperation but the Nonemployer EIN Internet Survey is now closed. If you have any questions, please call the U.S.
Census Bureau at 301-763-2562.
How Data Are Used:
The U.S. Census Bureau will use the data collected for statistical purposes only. These data will not be published in any data products.
